The Arizona Governor's Youth Commission (www.beseenbeheard.az.gov) is a statewide commission of fifty-one motivated high-schoolers who wish to alleviate a few of the biggest issues facing youth today. I was appointed to this commission in June 2015, and served on the substance abuse committee. Through the GYC, I helped alleviate youth substance abuse in Arizona through original public service announcements, social media campaigns, and projects such as Red Ribbon Week and National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. In addition, through the GYC, I had the opportunity to meet and listen to various guest speakers from notable substance abuse prevention efforts including notMYkid and Alateen. These presentations and the work I did through the GYC inspired me to start Project Clean and strengthen my efforts to prevent youth substance abuse in Arizona.
